TMD recognition complex of 40 kDa (TRC40) also known as arsA arsenite transporter, ATP-binding, homolog 1 (ASNA1), is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 19p13.2. ASNA1 is the mammalian ortholog of yeast Arr4/Get3 gene. The encoded protein is abundantly expressed in pancreatic β cells.
ASNA1 is the human homolog of the bacterial arsA gene. In E. coli, ArsA ATPase is the catalytic component of a multisubunit oxyanion pump that is responsible for resistance to arsenicals and antimonials.

生化/生理作用
Asna1/TRC40 interacts with the transmembrane domains (TMD) of newly released tail-anchored (TA) proteins and transfers them to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) receptor for subsequent membrane insertion and thus, plays an essential role in TA protein biogenesis. The encoded protein is necessary for effective HSV1 replication. Asna1 acts as a key regulator of insulin signaling in C. elegans and mammalian cells.
