CACNG5 gene encodes a type II transmembrane AMPA receptor regulatory protein (TARP). The calcium channel γ subunits consist of eight-member protein family that shares a common topology consisting of four transmembrane domains and intracellular N- and C-termini. CACNG5 plays a key role for voltage-dependent calcium channel in the susceptibility to bipolar disorder and/or schizophrenia.
