Transport and Golgi organisation protein 1 (TANGO) is also termed as melanoma inhibitor protein 3 (MIA3). It is a member of the melanoma inhibitory activity (MIA) gene family. MIA3 gene encodes a 14 kDa protein. MIA3 is located on human chromosome 1q41.

Transport and Golgi organisation protein 1 (TANGO)/ melanoma inhibitor protein 3 (MIA3) is essential for the transport of collagen VlI (COL7A1) from the endoplasmic reticulum. It acts as a tumor suppressive gene of malignant melanoma. TANGO may stimulate angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis inOSCC (oral squamous cell carcinoma).
