The gene TRIM68 (tripartite motif containing 68) belongs to the tripartite motif-containing protein (TRIM) family, the members of which contain a RING (really interesting new gene) finger, a B-box and a coiled-coil motif. Additionally, trim68 contains a carboxy-terminal PRY/SPRY (splA kinase and ryanodine receptors) domain. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 11p15.4.

The members of TRIM (tripartite motif-containing protein) family of proteins participate in several biological processes. Alteration in their expression is associated with genetic diseases, viral infection, and cancer development. TRIM68 (tripartite motif containing 68) interacts with androgen receptor (AR) and serves as its co-activator. It possesses ubiquitin ligase activity and may function in AR-dependent transcription. It has been found to be associated with Sjögren′s syndrome and serves as a diagnostic marker. Trim68 is highly expressed in prostate and may be involved in carcinogenesis.
