ERGIC and Golgi 2 (ERGIC2) is a protein with an unknown function that shows sequence homology with proteins involved in ER/Golgi vesicle trafficking. ERGIC2 has been shown to interact with the brain specific calcium sensor otoferlin which is involved in calcium-dependent vesicle fusion.

应用

Anti-ERGIC2 polyclonal antibody is used to tag ERGIC and Golgi 2 proteins for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in cells and tissues by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to study the possible roles of ERGIC and Golgi 2 in vesicle fusion and endoplasminc reticulum (ER) to Golgi trafficking.

ERGIon Channel2 possibly play role in transport between endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi. ERGIon Channel2 is downregulated in prostate cancer. ERGIon Channel2 may play an important role in the growth and tumorigenicity of PC-3 prostate tumor cells. Ectopic expression of a partial sequence of ERGIon Channel2 as a VP22-fusion protein in prostate cancer cell line, PC-3, induced cellular senescence. Interferon-beta (IFN-beta) and a number of IFN-inducible genes were upregulated by the ERGIon Channel2-VP22 fusion protein.
