Minichromosome maintenance complex component 5 (MCM5) is one of the mini-chromosome maintenance proteins that are crucial for eukaryotic genome replication. MCM proteins are key components of the pre-replication complex, recruit replication-related proteins and form replication forks. MCM5 regulates cell cycle transition from G0 to G1/S phase. Expression of MCM5 is a diagnostic marker for bladder cancer recurrence.
