一般描述
The gene OTOP3 (otopetrin 3) belongs to the otopetrin family of genes that encode multi-transmembrane domain proteins. Most of the vertebrates contain three genes, OTOP 1, 2 and 3 that are clustered on two chromosomal locations. OTOP3 is mapped to human chromosome Ch17q25. These otopetrins have a conserved gene and protein structure with no resemblance to other transporters, channels, exchangers, or receptors. These proteins contain ten transmembrane domains with amino and carboxy termini facing the cytosol.
生化/生理作用
The gene OTOP3 (Otopetrin 3) encodes a protein that may be involved in retinal function. It is targeted by NR1D1 (nuclear receptor rev-erb α) and NR2E3 (photoreceptor-specific nuclear receptor gene) in adult retina.
