C3AR1 (complement C3a receptor 1) is mapped to human chromosome 12p13.31. C3AR1 codes for a seven transmembrane signaling molecule. The encoded protein is expressed in myeloid dendritic cells. C3AR is known to be expressed in mast cell and contains PDZ (PSD95, Dlg1 and zo-1) motif of class 1.

生化/生理作用

The formation of C3a (complement C3 α chain) from the proteolytic cleavage of C3, increases the expression of C3AR1 (complement C3a receptor 1). The receptor is known to induce potent anaphylatoxin activity of C3a. C3AR is a G protein-coupled receptor which is directly associated with immune responses such as inflammation, chemotaxis, leukocytes activation and mast cell degranulation and cytokine production. C3AR1 might be associated with platelet activation. C3AR is also responsible for increased vascular permeability and smooth muscle contraction. Research suggests that C3AR is linked with omental fat mass, obesity due to uncontrolled diet and abnormal metabolism. C3AR might be associated with the development of a number of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
