一般描述
GDF10 (growth differentiation factor 10) is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-β (transforming growth factor β) superfamily. It is expressed in femur, brain, lung, skeletal, muscle, pancreas and testis. Recombinant GDF10 protein was expressed in Escherichia coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
生化/生理作用
In rats, ectopic expression of GDF10 (growth differentiation factor 10) enhances osteoblast differentiation and also helps in bone formation. It plays a role in head formation in Xenopus embryos. After stroke, it is involved in axonal sprouting and functional recovery. The GDF10 gene is downregulated in lung cancer, mammary tumor, oral cancer and malignant mesothelioma.
