The Chromobox domain (Cbx) gene family, consisting of Polycomb and Heterochromatin Protein 1 genes, involved in transcriptional repression, cell cycle regulation and chromatin remodeling. Polycomb group proteins are transcriptional repressors recruited to many developmental control genes. Chromobox homolog 6 (Cbx6) is a polycomb homolog which exhibits preferential binding affinity for trimethylated histone H3. Cbx6 is an essential regulator of cell fate decisions during embryogenesis.

应用

Anti-CBX6 (AB1) polyclonal antibody is used to tag Chromobox homolog 6 proteins for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in cells and tissues by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to study the distribution and role of Chromobox homolog 6 as a regulator of chromatin structure and cell fate decisions.

CBX6 is involved in maintaining the transcriptionally repressive state of genes. It modifies chromatin, rendering it heritably changed in its expressibility.
