CCT8 (Cctq) gene product encodes the theta (subunit 8) subunit of the molecular chaperone complex TCP-1 (CCT). TCP-1 (CCT) is a hetero-oligomeric molecular chaperone that mediates protein folding in the cytosol of eukaryotes.

应用
Anti-CCT8 polyclonal antibody is used to tag CCT theta proteins for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in cells and tissues by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to study the distribution and role of CCTQ as a component of the hetero-oligomer TCP-1 (CCT).
生化/生理作用
As a molecular chaperone; CCT8 assists the folding of proteins upon ATP hydrolysis. It is known to play a role, in vitro, in the folding of actin and tubulin.
