生化/生理作用

Cadherin 22, type 2 (CDH22) is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein expressed highly in the brain. Functions of CDH22 include morphogenesis in neural and non-neural cells during the development of brain and the neuroendocrine organs. CDH22 interacts directly with PRL3 (Protein-tyrosine phosphatase of regenerating liver 3), gene responsible for promotion of epithelial mesenchymal transition. PRL3 results in down-regulation of CDH22 expression. CDH22 is up-regulated in colorectal cancer and lymphatic metastasis of colorectal carcinoma. Absence of CDH22 partially suppresses proliferation of colorectal cancer cells.
